BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Officials are releasing the numbers for citations that have been issued this year for each intersection with a traffic camera. Now, the city-parish is more than doubling the number of traffic light enforcement cameras in the next 16 days.
With the eight cameras already operating, 5,710 tickets have been sent out. More than one-third of all the tickets come from the red light camera on College Drive at eastbound I-10. 2,116 tickets were issued from activity at that particular intersection. The closest contender after College is Lessen Lane, again on the eastbound side of I-10.
Nine new cameras go on line in the next two weeks. A few of these are not really high traffic areas; for instance, Nicholson at Burbank and Winbourne at Victoria; but seem to tempt speeding drivers. Remember, the fine if you are caught running a red light is $117.
The numbers of the intersection listed below correspond with the numbers on the map above.
